Adventure Summary
Involves trekking for up to seven days a at steady pace.
These treks may spend successive days at altitude and are usually between 10-15 days in duration.
You will need a good level of fitness.
Involves trekking on remote trails in variable weather conditions for up to eight hours a day.
This may include successive days at altitude not generally exceeding 5500m. You will need a high level
of fitness, be prepared to carry a daypack weighing up to 10kgs and as with all our adventures, be comfortable
about walking in adverse weather conditions.

Peru is a destination that inspires wonder at every turn.
From the dramatic Andean mountains, to lush valleys
dotted with traditional Quechuan villages, quaint colonial
towns and mystical Incan ruins – this beautiful country
at the heart of South America promises a wide range of
experiences. At the centre of this trip is the Lares Valley
trek, a chance to challenge yourself as you get off the
beaten track and experience the real Peru. And of course
there is an unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu. Through
it all you’ll be helping the Black Dog Institute to work with
rural and metropolitan communities to raise awareness of
mood disorders, their warning signs and how to seek help.
